For this DIY greenhouse I used IKEA's Rudsta tall. I did not need to drill any holes into the cabinet for wiring, instead I put the wires between the glass panels while I was putting the cabinet together.

One of my favorite things about the Rudsta tall is the versatility, you can use magnetic spice racks and magnetic hooks to create the greenhouse of your dreams.

Below are some of the products I used to make my orchidarium vision come to life:

Mounting Barrina Lights with Magnets

I borrowed/stole these ideas from other posts and comments that I have seen on various Facebook groups and forums, so I'm definitely not trying to take credit for them. I just thought I'd post these instructions in case it would help anyone else who wants to mount Barrina lights with magnets.

SUPPLIES:

• Barrina T5 Grow Lights - https://tinyurl.com/BarrinaT5

• M4x5mm Screws - https://tinyurl.com/M4Screws

• Neodymium Disc Magnets - https://tinyurl.com/MagnetDiscs

• Loctite Thread Locker (optional) - https://tinyurl.com/LoctiteStick

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Unscrew the hook from the magnetic base.

  2. Align the Barrina light bracket with the magnetic base.

  3. Optional - Apply blue Loctite to the threads of the M4x5mm screw. This prevents the screw from backing out. It's probably overkill for this application, but I had Loctite on hand so I used it.

  4. Attach the light bracket to the magnetic base using the screw (Note: the screw heads must be flat/short in order to fit between the light and the bracket).

  5. Snap two brackets onto the light.

  6. Mounting On Metal - If you are mounting your lights to metal (e.g., the top of your cabinet), you're ready to go.

  7. Mounting On Glass Shelves - If you're mounting your lights on glass shelves, place the magnetic disks on top of the shelf and align them with the magnets that are attached to your light bar under the shelf. Adding more magnetic disks (above and below the shelf) will give you a stronger hold.
