These housing tips are specifically tailored to the most commonly kept Regal jumping spider (Phidippus regius species).
All of my spooders are from Cute-n-Curious arachnids.
✨ Jessica does the most amazing job with all of her spooder babies and is a total godsent in the spider community. Her passion and love for spiders shows in every detail. ✨
Non-bioactive enclosures:
🪷 I will post another blog including information regarding my bioactive enclosures and what I use. 🪷

Pictured above I am using a Barinna T5 2ft LED grow light (link below).
Please note: Jumping spiders are solitary animals and must be kept in an individual enclosures at all times. The only situations you can keep them together is for mating and raising babies until 4th instar.
Jumping spiders are arboreal spiders which means they will appreciate an enclosure that is tall. For a small spiderling you will want to use a smaller enclosure (4x4x6 inch); however, it will need to be upgraded to a larger one once the spider grows (6x6x10 inch). See below for links to the enclosures I use.
The enclosure should have good ventilation to prevent stagnated air and mould growth.
Spiders need light in order to hunt pray.
Decor & materials for the above builds:
Tarantula Cribs "Jumper Bundle"
*I absolutely love Tarantula Cribs. They have really thought everything through for these lil jumpers... including keeping the webs safe. Jumping spiders make their webs in the top portion of their enclosure and usually spend all their time at the top. Tarantula Cribs makes all their arboreal enclosures safe to ensure that jumpers never have their webs destroyed.
Reptile sphagum moss (green)

Reindeer moss
Wooden shelves
*These shelves are a great price and beautiful. If you like the "flesh mount" look than you can sand them down with a high grit sanding paper to achieve this.
🌸 Cherry blossom flowers 🌸
*Michael's has multiple colors of cherry blossom flowers and they are currently sold in stores and online.
Totoro figurines
Kiki's Delivery Service figurines
Mini ladder
Magnetic silk hide
*These are a must have!
Piper cleaners
(Can also be purchased at Michael's and other craft stores)
*These are so cute and provide excellent enrichment for our spooders. I have noticed our lil jumpers can be selective with the materials they enjoy walking on... and I can totally say they love walking on piper cleaners.
🧲 Magnets 🧲
*The below magnets are great for branches, hides, shelves, etc.
*The below magnets have a range of sizes from tiny to super tiny and are wonderful for lighter objects, including pom poms, flowers, etc.

Grow light 1ft (color yellow)
Magnetic food dish
*They are currently out of the short size, which is pictured above, but they do have another size that is slightly taller. I absolutely love these little food dishes so much. These dishes make it so easy and avoid any worrying about where the pray is in the enclosure.
🪱 Feeding tongs to handle feeders 🪱
*I absolutely recommend getting some feeding tongs to handle your mealworms, waxworks, etc. it makes feeding time much faster.

PLEASE NOTE: Be careful with your magnets and the feeding tongs as the tongs will quickly be pulled to any magnets inside the enclosure.
I remove the feeding bowl and put my feeders in the bowl outside of the enclosure to avoid any mishaps to my spooders.
The Build:
You will need:
Glue gun
Gorilla glue hot glue
Super glue
Mod Podge
I used gorilla hot glue to attach the magnets to the cherry blossom branches. I also used magnets on the wooden shelves. Additionally, once the hot glue dried I did a small dab of super glue to ensure it would be able to hold up to humidity over time.
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT SEALING YOUR ENCLOSURE DECOR!
You will need to seal EVERYTHING to prevent mold. I used mod podge on all my artificial flowers, wood pieces, wood shelves, and figurines. I did not seal the piper cleaners or the reptile sphagum moss and I've not had any issues with mold. I did seal the reindeer moss!
Mod Podge
Hot glue was used to keep the artificial flowers and sphagum moss together. I also used hot glue to adhere some flowers and moss to the sides of the enclosures.
Please note: Do not put any items in your enclosure until the glues and mod podge have fully dried.
Fun extras
Thermometer/hygrometer
Turntables
*This is nice to have if you keep your spooder on your desk. I keep one at my desk in my home office and use an LED light (link for light below).

*If you enjoy taking picture of your spooders than I absolute recommend this macro lens. It works with any smart phone too! I use it with my iPhone 14 Pro and love it!
